“Vegan” Plastic Leather Polluting Environment
#GHG reduction is far from the goal to cut the 45% of emissions within 2030, and #fashion industry alone is contributing to 10% global CO2 output and 20% wastewater. Animal #leather, massively used in fashion, causes cruelty, significant amount of carbon dioxide and an excessive use of water ๐ญ
The growing awareness and the demand for an alternative, have pushed many companies to switch to products such as synthetic leather. Unfortunately, they are mainly composed of either Polyurethane (PU) or PVC, derivates from the fossil fuels, not sustainable, and not biodegradable ๐คฆโโ๏ธ
Even the so called โveganโ or โeco-friendlyโ leathers from vegetables or agricultural wastes (๐๐๐๐๐ฉโ๐พ) have a very small quantity of natural material, e.g. the cactus leather consists of only 15% cactus mashed with dangerous chemicals ๐ต๐ก
At Komodra Business Group we are working to develop a real โgreenโ solution that mimics the leather by coating natural fibres with biodegradable materials ๐งฉ
